882 head of cattle were sold through the ring in Vanderhoof on Friday. Receipts consisted of mostly feeder cattle with about 160 cows and bulls on offer. Kevin Bailey led off the sale with 576 lb Strs streaking up to 230.00 and 734 lb Hfrs topping 180.00. Ernest Bree from Telkwa brought a load of grass cattle to town, 492 lb Strs reached 232.00 and 493 lb Hfrs saw 202.00. DMS Ranch Ltd sold fancy Blk Strs, 706 lbs for 195.00. Garth Everal from Prince George brought in a liner load of Char X yearlings, 872 lb Strs fetched 170.00, 37 head of 792 lb Strs brought 181.50 and 665 lb Strs saw 207.00, 711 lb Hfrs were 179.00 and 609 lb Hfrs rose to 189.00. Garth had a 1440 lb cow return 87.00. Carmella Farms sold 885 lb Strs for 169.00 and 790 Wts were 176.00. Garrett Ranches Ltd treated us to crossbred Hfrs that averaged 673 lbs and returned 183.50 and a sort of 40 head at 575 lbs that did not stop till 206.50. Johnson Farms Ltd. had 753 lb Blk Strs reach 185.00. Corey Newtons 653 lb Hfrs saw 191.00. LarryPalmer from Burns Lake sold 590 lb Hfrs for 200.50. Wikkstra Farms from Telkwa brought feeders as well as a string of young, exposed cows. 819 lb Simm X Strs returned 180.00, 707 lb Strs were 192.25 and 700 lb Hfrs settled at 176.75, and a pair of the young cows at 1275 lbs reached 155.00. The Wruth family brought feeders to town, Daron had 801 lb X bred Strs reach 178.75, 732 lbs to 187.50 and 630 lb Strs saw 209.50. Daron’s Hfrs at 676 lbs forced 181.00 and 585 lbs Hfrs were 199.00. Richard’s 724 lb Blk Strs brought 190.00 and David’s 725 Angus Strs were also 190.00, while the Hfrs at 646 lbs saw 187.00. On the slaughter side, Kochel Cattle and Timber Ltd saw 1540 lb cows hit 86.25, RussMcLarry’s 1432 lb cows reached 87.00 and Lance Muehlen sold cows at 1399 lbs for 87.00 as well. Levi Walker had a 1720 lb Blk bull bring 106.00 and Darlene MacLeod saw her 2030 lb Char bull reach 106.50.
