What a sale to finish off 2020! We had 1200 hd of cattle hit the Kamloops show ring! Today we featured the Douglas Lake Cattle Co. with 800 powerful calves. Buying power was huge and the interest in these top quality calves was electric. Their Char x s/c, 646 lb, fancy and good, hit 207.50. Their 513 lb Char x s/c raced to 230.00. A liner load of their powerful Hereford s/c, the top end at 621 lb, saw 206.00. A complete liner load of their fancy 558 lb Hereford s/c topped their weight range at 230.50. The next liner load of 576 lb, Hereford s/c, 100 in the group, notched 226.75. 100 hd of their 563 lb Hereford s/c reached 229.00. We then moved into the h/c division. Their pen of 632 lb, Char h/c powered to 195.00. Their fancy 537 lb, Char h/c brought 210.00 and their 475 lb Blk Baldy h/c topped 214.00. John Barten brought 475 lb, Angus h/c that sold to 217.00. Bernadine Bykerk had 637 lb Angus x strs top 194.00. The OK Ranch had a load of butcher cows today, their 1400 lb fleshy cows reached 77.50 and their young 2 yr olds, 1030 lb, rolled to 123.00. The Gang Ranch had a ring full of good, young cows, 1100 lb, reach 110.00 and their group of 1855 lb butcher bulls topped 104.50. The Nicola Ranch had 42 hd of young, 968 lb hfrts that traded to 161.75 and their pen of 17, 2yr old hfrts, at 1097 lb, settled at 124.00. The Elkink Ranch had 1227 lb cows top 74.75. Trent Kjos topped our butcher bull trade with 2240 lb bulls that raced to 108.50. Well, it has been quite the year and today was unbelievably strong from start to finish. The Kamloops yards set a new record as Darrell & his crew saw a 6\% increase in numbers. The yards are clean and well maintained and the sales have been smooth from start to finish.
