Market Report For December 4, 2020

The last sale of this year in Vanderhoof featured 2,000 head of cattle, of which about 1,700 were calves. The weather cooperated and we enjoyed some outstanding cattle.

Doug and Cindy Brophy brought us 100 calves. 672 lb Blk s/c reached 192.00, the 580 lb Blk s/c forced 215.50 and the 471 lb s/c soared to 230.00, 571 lb h/c fetched 186.00 and 493 lb h/c were 195.00. CTN Ranching Ltd. sold 541 lb Blk Angus h/c for 184.00. DMS Ranch Ltd. had powerful 733 lb Blk s/c stop at 184.50 and 653 lb s/c to 193.00. Grafton Quality Cattle sold 529 lb Red s/c at 220.00. Gaylon McKee saw his 647 lb s/c mark 196.50 and 533 lb s/c touch 226.50. Gaylon’s h/c at 597 lbs forced 190.00. Harold and Bonnie Moroski from Burns Lake presented 728 lb Red s/c that fetched 180.50 and the 634 lb s/c saw 191.50, while the 603 lb h/c were 177.00. Peebles Ranch from Burns Lake saw a sort of 69 head of 634 lb Char s/c get all the way up to 198.00 and 518 lb s/c for 224.50, the 556 lb Char h/c topped out at 195.00, they also had 1703 lb slaughter cows trade for 73.50. Mike and Geraldine Pritchard sold 676 lb tan s/c for 195.00. Rim Rock Ranch Ltd showcased 512 lb s/c that returned 217.00 and 422 lb s/c that saw 250.00 while 468 lb h/c were 197.00. Walker Cattle Company brought 191 calves to town, 704 lb Red Simm x s/c started the sale reaching 189.00, 648 lb s/c followed at 194.75 with the 590 lb s/c to 206.00 and 513 lb s/c for 220.00. 544 lb h/c notched 181.00 and 483 lb h/c reached 190.00. Keith Wruth sold a couple of 1500 lb Red cows for 73.50 and Kevin Bailey broke the barrier with a Blk Simm bull for 100.50. Overall, the crew worked through the cattle at a brisk pace, finishing the year strong!
