B C Livestock Market Report Friday September 18, 2020 603 head of cattle went through the ring on Friday in Vanderhoof. On offer were 290 calves, 252 yearlings, 55 cows and 6 bulls. There were enough calves to provide a glimpse at what the calf market may look like for the rest of the season. John and Hillary McNolty (Ft Fraser) set the bar high with powerful exotic cross calves. 34 head of 684 lb sk ran up to 208.25, 586 lb sk reached 213.50 The hk at 652 lbs brought 185.75 and the 575 weights were 190.50. There were over 100 hd of good light calves from 8514224 Inc (Telkwa). Some of the results were 21 black sk weighing 415 lbs selling to 240.00, 14 black sk at 386 lbs to 256.00 34 black heifers weighing 383 lbs reached 2.20. Al Reichert had 624 lb black sk fetch 200.00 and 551 lb. black sk at 209.50, 547 lb. heifers brought 189.00. The yearling market seems to be still strengthening with less of them left out in the country. Tatalrose Ranch, Jon and Cya Solecki (Burns Lk) had 33 strs press the scales down at 915 lbs and bring 187.00, 35 strs weighed 816 lbs and sold for 198.00. Fritz Walther (Ft St. James) had 827 lb black strs to 188.00. Darcy Tiani (PG) had 816 lb hfrs reach 170.00 and Kerry and Sandra Shelford (Burns Lk) had 973 lb strs mark 174.25. Seida’s Dairy (PG) had big 1061 lb strs at 162.75. Sigmund Finke (PG) had the biggest steers of the day, with a package of 14 weighing 1095 go up to 160.00 Good cows today were stopping at about 84.50. Tatalrose ranch topped the bull market today with a 2050 lb. Gelbvieh bull fetching 116.50. A big thank you to the contributors, the buyers, and the crew!
