BC Livestock Regular sale September 11, 2020

854 head of cattle were sold through the ring on Friday. There were 42 calves, 65 cows and bulls and 747 head of yearlings offered. It was obvious that grass conditions have been excellent with the size and quality of yearlings that we saw. Marten and Linda Dykens from Houston brought 3 liner loads to town. 24 head of 1096 lb. steers fetched $1.68 and a full liner load of good 963 lb. steers sold for $1.80. On the heifer side, Marten and Linda’s ring full of outstanding exotic cross heifers weighed 1020 and brought $1.65, the lighter sisters at 926 reached $1.74. Valley Creek Ranch also from Houston had 947 lb. crossbred steers bring $1.78 and big Hereford steers at 1033 stop at $1.70. Singletree Farms from Vanderhoof had a double draft of steers weighing 953 lbs reach $1.80.75 and the lighter end at 878 lbs sell for $1.84.75. Olaf Halvorson had 992 lb. steers bring $170.50 and 919 lb. RWF steers at $1.75. Dallaine Ranch from Telkwa brought heifers to town, the 870 lb. red white faces brought $1.60 and the 866 weight crossbreds reached $1.66.25. DMS Ranch had two sorts of heifers, the 933 pounders reached $1.64.25 and the 819 weights saw $1.67. On the slaughter side, with light receipts, Kevin Bailey had good cows bring $.85 and Lyle and Vonda Wiens had an 1855 lb. bull bring $1.18 per lb. Thanks to all the contributors and buyers and staff. Next week we have appx 300 calves, 250 yearlings, and 50-60 cows.
