VANDERHOOF SHEEP & GOAT SALE

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 3rd, 2020

This year's Sheep and Goat Sale proved to be a huge success. We had a bit of something for everyone and starting us off was a great set of black face sheep from Rod Bianco (Smithers). His pen of 85 lb breeding ewes set the pace at $2.00 per lb, middle aged ewes at 120 lb brought $1.35, 137 lb wethers reached $1.70. Mark Freisen (Van) had 51 lb cross bred ram lambs saw $1.92, 56 lb ewe lambs fetched $2.10 and one 30 lb ewe lamb jumped to $2.45! Dana Jackson (Fort Fraser) had some 86 lb cross bred ram lambs cracked $1.90 and a 85 lb billy brought $2.00. Tonya and Ben King (PG) saw their 119 lb cross bred ewes hit $1.02. Jacintha Kulchar (Fort Fraser) sold Statler (reluctantly),Statler is a 70 lb white wether that drove the bid to $2.00. We still can't believe Alex let her do it. Jim and Roma Tingle (PG) had some good looking ewes. At 155 lb they forced $1.17. We also had a hand full of goats in our sale. Frank Wiebe (Van) had a pair of nannies at 88 lb worth $1.90 and a 95 lb billy charged to $2.40. Jackie Groot (Houston) had some 125 lb nannies forced $1.80 and a pen of her 107 lb ewes notched $1.12. The top of the goat market came from Sidnee Oesch (PG),her 70 lb nanny (Margo) stole the hearts of all and finally stopped the bid at $3.10. We had a lot of fun. Huge thank you to the buyers for driving all the way out from Alberta and the Fraser Valley, as well as the tremendous local support. We look forward to next year's sale and we hope to have one in July as well.
