Vanderhoof Sale - Friday, Apr 24, 2020

VANDERHOOF REGULAR SALE, FRIDAY, APRIL 24th, 2020

Amidst the variety of pressures and unexpected opportunities we find that, overall, the market remains solid here in Vanderhoof. We had over 800 feeders, with most of those just right for grass. Let's start off by checking out Little Valley Farms (Van) with their pen of 597 lb Angus x strs marking 212.00 and 601 lb hfrs at 180.25. Johnson Farms (Van) were back again with 677 lb Angus strs that reached 187.00 and their 651 lb hfrs brought 172.50. Longridge Farms (Van) did a great job on their back grounding with the 705 lb hfrs that cracked 165.00. Lone Fir Ranch (Fraser Lk) saw their 728 lb Ang x strs fetch 177.00, and their 640 lb strs sold at 199.00. Straight Hereford strs from Lone Fir, at 710 lb, forced 171.25, and the 628 lb strs edged 185.00. On the heavier side of things we had Jesse Boonstra (Telkwa) with 824 lb strs worth 155.50, 762 lb strs climbing to 170.00, Jesse had some replacement quality Angus hfrs, weighing 766 lb, strike 154.00 and 627 lb hfrs notched 173.00. Joyce and Gordie Dickson (Van) had some powerful replacement type Red hfrs, at 811 lb, that demanded 151.00, their 741 lb hfrs saw up to 160.00 and their 666 lb hfrs carried on to 173.00. Walter and Susan Steidle braved the roads from Punchaw with 715 lb Red x strs that hit 175.25, 744 lb hfrs at 160.00, and 485 lb hfrs that pushed to 206.00. Andy Meints (Houston) had growthy Red x strs, at 856 lb, bring 149.00, 715 lb strs at 177.50 and 579 lb strs that raced to 217.00. Dallaine Ranch (Telkwa) had 805 lb strs reach 155.50 and 752 lb strs that grabbed 173.00. Ernest Bree (Telkwa) had a set of 431 lb s/c mark 230.00 while his 390 lb h/c settled at 206.00. We had about 60 hd of cows and bulls to chose from and found the cows averaging 80.00 with odd sales as high as 96.00. Bulls range from 80.00 - 111.00! It takes a certain amount of courage and nerves of steal to operate in the ranching business these days. Between the producers, the buying power and the team at BCL, I'm confident we have what it takes to continue feeding the world profitably. Keep up the good work folks. Next regular sale in Vanderhoof is May 8th, with over 400 hd booked in so far.
