Kamloops Sale - Tuesday, Dec 10, 2019



We had another excellent sale here in Kamloops today as we headed into the 2nd last sale of the year. We had 780 hd on offer and we saw quality from start to finish! We had a good mix of calves with 300 hd sailing through the ring. Yearlings were less plentiful but we had a huge volume of butcher cows that filled the balance of the sale. McGillivray Land & Livestock set the quality and price bars with 700 lb Blk Angus s/c that marked 195.50. Their big boys, just under 800 lb, notched 190.00. Next, 10 hd of their replacement quality, 689 lb, Blk Angus h/c hit 180.00. The Buck Lake Ranch, from Beaverdell, set a fire with 411 lb Blk Angus s/c that brought 231.00. On their lighter s/c they saw 245.00. Their 456 lb Blk Angus h/c showed at 200.00. Mike Wright, from Merritt, was in with a top set of Blk Angus calves. His 600 lb b/c hit 185.50. Aaron Stelkia had 470 lb Angus x s/c top 219.00. The big brothers, at 715 lb, from Jane Stelkia, raced to 180.00 and her 640 lb s/c hit 192.00. Ed Ripley, out of Summerland, saw his 600 lb, Hereford s/c marching up to 190.00. Greg Nyman, of Clinton, saw his 523 lb, Angus x s/c bring 218.00 and his 410 lb Blk s/c hit 230.00. Nicola Ranch’s 665 lb Blk Angus s/c sold to 204.50 and their 1089 lb open yearling hfrs hit 172.00 while their 907 lb hfrs sold to 178.00. Next up was our Bred Cow & Heifer Sale.  The Brad McNish cow herd dispersal was featured at our Bred Cow & Bred Heifer sale. His Blk Angus, 3rd and 4th calvers sold to 1550.00, while the 5th calvers, Blk Angus bred cows hit 1675.00. The Red Angus cows, 4the calvers, sold to 1600.00 and the Red Baldy young bred cows topped 1800.00. Later in the sale his 1523 lb open cows sold to 74.50. Buyer interest was huge on these first class bred cows! Robert Black, from Salmon Arm, had young 3rd calvers, all Red Baldys, that topped 1550.00. The Rafter F Ranch, had some excellent Blk Angus bred hfrs, set to calve April 1st, that traded to 1550.00. butcher cows & butcher bulls made up the balance of todays sale. Greg Nyman’s top 1475 lb cows hit 75.50. Ian & Jo Nelson’s 1500 lb butcher cows sold to 75.50. The Nicola Ranch’s liner load of 1444 lb cows also traded to 75.50. this was some sale! Next week, Tuesday, December 17th is our last Kamloops sale of the calendar year. We already have a liner load of good, 1250 - 1350 lb, butcher cows from the OK Ranch booked.
