VANDERHOOF REGULAR SALE, FRIDAY, APRIL 26th

Another solid sale on Friday. Lots of buyer enthusiasm & product with over 900 feeders and nearly 200 butcher cattle. When everyone was locked and ready we turned loose of a couple ring loads from John Bree (Telkwa). These 646 lb Angus X s/c rocked the stage at 227.00, the little brothers, 554 lb marked 240.00. Bree's hfrs were fit for grass at 629 lb and scored 190.00, and his 532 lb h/c saw 200.00. Guy Bambauer (Van) in with a strong set of Hereford influence calves, his 659 lb s/c forced 213.25 while the 567lb s/c fetched 221.00. 579 lb. Bambauer h/c hit 182.50, and the 521lb h/c sold at 200.00. There seemed to be no end of high performance grass calves today! I liked the calves from Long Ridge Farm (Van) and so did the buyers, at 674 lb his h/c demanded 181.50, and his 574 lb h/c stretched 193.00. Darci Tiani (Willow River) had 551 lb s/c strike 233.00, 452 lb s/c hit 239.00 and 421 lb h/c saw 205.00. Bar K Ranch (PG) in with Hereford influence grass calves, their 627 lb s/c topped 230.00, the 514 lb s/c traded at 234.00, and the 489 lb h/c landed at 200.00. We had a good selection of heavier feeders also. Carmella Farms (Van) had 750 lb steers worth 198.50, and 684 lb steers at 215.00. Lone Fir Ranch (Fort Fraser) in with 688 lb Hereford steers bringing 205.75, and 627 lb hfrs at 182.00. Muir Stock Farms (Van) caused quite a disturbance with 686 lb steers racing to 220.00! 831 lb hfrs, in good flesh, peaked at 165.00, and 736 lb hfrs notched 177.50. In with good, replacement type hfrs was Joyce and Gordie Dickson (Van). Their 920 lb Red/Simm hfrs soared to 160.50, 869 lb hfrs hit 170.00 and their 733 lb hfrs saw 182.00. A solid run of butcher stock today, like the heavy Blk cows from Dave and Vicky Andres (Van),at 1757 lb, traded up to 90.50. DMS Ranch (Van) in with 1330 lb Angus cows hitting 90.00. Keith and Alexis Hart (PG) had 1666 lb cows reach 94.50. Stealing the show was Harry and Jean Dykstra (Van) with 1522 lb cows drawing 97.00! For mature bulls we saw Ootsa Lk Cattle Co. (Burns Lk) with a 1905 lb tan bull cracking 100.50. Bill Evans (Fort Fraser) saw his 2235 lb Blk bull force 104.00. Topping the bull trade was Jay and Terry Dancey (Smithers) with a 2075 lb red bull edging 105.00. It was a very enjoyable day, exciting to see several locals bidding and buying grassers. I encourage you as a consignor to take the time to personally thank the order buyers for their steadfast effort to maintain profitability in the industry, as well as thanking whomever participates in buying your cattle. It can be easy to overlook the risks taken to buy cattle at top dollar and be able to come out ahead. May 10th regular sale is building momentum, May 31st will be our Food Grains Bank/Regular Sale and customer appreciation day, we'd love to see you there! Also don't miss the Saddle Horse Sale at the fairgrounds June 8th
