VANDERHOOF REGULAR SALE, FRIDAY, DECEMBER 8th, 2018

What a sale to put the lid on 2018! Almost 600 calves, they sorted up great, and sold even better. Let's start with Walker Cattle Co. (Van) showing 200+ Angus x calves, their 618 lb s/c set the pace at 199.50, their 677 lb s/c hit 195.00 and the 536 lb s/c settled at 207.75. Their h/c, weighing 566 lb, brought 182.00, the bigger sisters, 609 lb, settled at 178.00. Levi and Jessica Walker (Van) filled the ring with 556 lb s/c worth 207.25, their 507 lb s/c raced up 212.50, 506 lb h/c marked 183.25. Little Valley Farms (Van) utilized our in house video to sell a liner of 550 lb Angus x s/c at 207.00. Triple N Ranch (Burns Lk) showed 424 lb blk h/c that fetched 190.50, 451 lb h/c marched up to 186.00. Peter & Paul Sterzenegger (Smithers) saw their solid 608 lb rwf s/c climb to 190.50, and their 561 lb h/c cracked 178.00. Andreas and Mirjam Stiffler (Burns Lk) had a great pen of 485 lb s/c edge 210.50, 495 lb h/c that struck 183.00. Andy Meints (Houston) got things moving with his 671 lb red s/c, forcing 194.50, 565 lb s/c at 207.00. Not a big volume of yearlings this sale but we had a real nice package of red x hfrs from Rick Stephens (Houston),weighing 801 lb these solid girls maxed out at 160.00. Kochel Cattle and Timber (Van) had a batch of blk hfrs tip the scales at 920 lb that traded at 150.50, the heiferettes at 1180 lb brought 111.00 and 1292 lb blk x cows raced up to 74.75. Rim Rock Ranch (Van) had 1414 lb Limo x cows reaching 74.25. Bill Martin had a load of 1432 lb cows settle at 74.00. Next, for the bull trade we saw Russ Dykstra (Van) with a 1930 lb Sim bull that hit 85.00. Benny and Elysia Penner (Van) saw their 2025 lb blk bull fetch 84.00. Ed and Janie Chaisson (Van) in with a 2065 lb Red Angus bull finding the top of the market at 86.00. Over all we had 200+ in the butcher trade. Great sale! As we roll into winter I trust we've all found adequate feed supplies.
