Another great display of northern quality as over 1500 calves hit the market on Friday. Let's start with strong Red X calves from Bar WK out of McBride. 601 lb s/c set the pace at $214.75, 663 lb red s/c at $209.00. Doug Brophy (Vanderhoof) had 546 lb s/c reach $222.00, 483 lb s/c at $240.00. Doug's 488 lb h/c brought $203.75. Kevin Bailey (Vanderhoof) saw his 624 lb s/c race to $214.00, 537 lb s/c at $229.00. Kevin's 487 lb h/c hit $201.00. Bob Allison had 598 lb s/c climb to $213.00, 535 lb s/c hit $233.75, 509 lb h/c up to $193.00. Gaylon McKee (Vanderhoof) in with 589 lb s/c at $217.00, 642 lb s/c mark $210.25. Gaylon's 566 lb h/c hit $189.00 and 489 lb h/c reach $201.00. Levi Walker (Vanderhoof) saw his 600 lb s/c march to $214.00, 541 lb s/c on up to $222.00. Levi's 481 lb h/c scored $201.50. Rim Rock Ranch of Vanderhoof with their classic Red Limo X calves weighing 503 lbs the s/c brought $233.75, 449 lb s/c at $245.00. 436 lb Rim Rock h/c fetched $206.00. Triple N Ranch from Burns Lk with powerful blk s/c at 588 lbs notching $219.50, 512 lb s/c at $235.50. Lance Muehlen of Fort Fraser in with 611 lb s/c demanding $214.00, 500 lb s/c at $233.75, 444 lb h/c hit $204.50. Walker Cattle Co (Vanderhoof) had 644 lb s/c trade to $214.50, 709 lb s/c soared to $203.00. 538 lb Walker h/c sold at $195.00, 468 lb h/c at $205.00. We had a few good batches of yearlings like George and Naomi Hofer of Vanderhoof with 668 lb yh at $183.00. Kerr Cattle Co of Telkwa had Red X 805 Lb YH hit $178.75. For Butcher cows we saw a pen of Rim Rock Ranch cows weighing 1410 lbs fetch $76.25. Northern Farm Products of PG had 1628 lb cows bring $77.25. Bar K Ranch of PG had 1169 lb cows reach $78.25. Bill Honeyman (Vanderhoof) saw his 2005 lb red bull notch $87.25. Kelly Vankoughnett of Fort St James had a 2025 lb blk bull bring $80.00. Michael McKee of Vanderhoof in with a 2170 lb bull trading to $92.00. More than ever I appreciate the extra effort from the staff, buyers and truckers (if you look carefully into the distance I think I see a light). Also thank you to the producers, it has certainly been a good run of cattle this fall. We WILL be having one more regular sale Friday December 1st, 300 cows expected.
