Another 300 calves this week and there seems to be some real stability for the calves, like Andy Reimer’s (Vancerhoof) Red Angus / Hereford X, his 583 lb S/C set the pace at 213.75, 513 lb S/C up to 216.50, 567 lb H/C landed at 192.00. Andy’s 1654 lb red cows brought 84.75. Jo Schwegler Smithers) had 604 lb S/C mark 210.00, 574 lb H/C at 190.00. George Hofer (Vanderhoof) saw his 453 lb S/C soar to 230.00, 399 lb S/C all the way up to 240.00. Nick Hiatt (Endako) was in with a great pen of 529 lb S/C demanding 216.00, 460 lb S/C up to 229.00. His 469 lb H/C hit 218.00, 377 lb H/C carried on to 235.00. Bill Harness had 516 lb S/C make 210.00, 408 lb H/C at 221.00. James Allan (PG) saw his pen of 453 lb H/C reach 220.00. Yearling receipts starting to wind down with just over 100 hd in this sale. Jackson Bro’s (Telkwa) had 771 lb YS hit 208.00, 693 lb YH at 190.75, 816 lb YH settled at 184.75. Markay Farms (Vanderhoof) had a set of 780 lb YH bring 179.00. Gary Debruin (Quesnel) had 878 lb YS notch 186.75, 927 lb YS at 168.00. Garry’s 970 lb YH demanded 164.00, his 750 lb YH climbed to 188.00. Carla Simrose (Vanderhoof) saw her 853 lb YS sell at 191.00 and her 754 lb YS at 206.00. Some recovery in the butcher trade as we saw Hereford cows from Dalaine Ranch (Telkwa) tip the scales at 1638 lb and trade for 84.00. John Plimmer (PG) had 1471 lb cows hit 82.75. Tom Moon (Vanderhoof) with some younger 1210 lb Red Angus cows reaching 84.50. We saw a dozen bulls average 92.00 with the top of that market coming from Muir Stock Farms (Vanderhoof) as their 2285 lb Charolais bull stopped the bit at 102.00. We enjoyed the beautiful fall weather and I would like to thank our producers for supporting their co-op. Thank you to the crew for another top effort and of course we tip our hat to the great cattle buyers we have here in BC. Next Friday we’re expecting 1000 calves as we look forward to another high energy fall run for 2017.
