Vanderhoof Sale - Friday, Sep 15, 2017
1130 head rolled through this Friday including over 200 calves to start our fall calf run. 130 of those calves came from John McNolty (Vanderhoof) and at 574 lb, his S/C set the pace at 212.75, his 626 lb S/C brought 210.00, 535 lb S/C up to 214.25 and his 742 lb S/C reached 205.00, his 563 lb H/C hit 187.50. John also had 1491 lb cows notch 77.50. Nick Hiatt (Endako) saw his 570 lb S/C trade at 197.00, he also had 1403 lb cows fetch 77.50. Ootsa Lake Cattle Co. (Burns Lake) with top quality yearlings on the greener side, 626 lb YS reached 213.25, 589 lb YH marked 190.50. Marten and Linda Dykens (Housten) showed a tremendous set of STRS, 973 lb YS brought 179.50, 1073 lb YS at 165.50, 922 lb YS up to 183.00. Seigmunt Finke (PG) with a set of 1039 lb YS demanding 171.00. Garrett Ranches (Vanderhoof) with great Hereford influence HFRS, 845 lb YH hit 173.00, 914 lb rwf YH at 161.50 and 750 lb YH climbing to 177.25. Poole Farms (Vanderhoof) in with great Simmental HFRS, 765 lb YH sold at 185.00, 647 lb YH at 187.00, Poole’s 1395 lb cows fetched 78.50. The David Reimer Family (Vanderhoof) had 777 lb black X YS reach 194.00. Max Schultz (PG) delivered 785 lb Red Angus X YS who found a value of 197.75, 932 lb YS at 177.75 and 699 lb YS all the way to 205.75. Tatlarose Ranch (Burns Lake) with 854 lb YS marking 192.75, 776 lb YS carried on to 208.00. Just shy of 200 head for the butcher trade, that market feeling some pressure due to a bottleneck in the processing at slaughter houses. From Mountain View Ranch (Vanderhoof) we saw 1307 lb cows reach 78.25 and a 2090 lb black bulls hit 103.00. Clint Mayhew (PG) had a 2175 lb black bull fetch 103.00. Gary Debruin (Quesnel) saw his 2020 lb Charolais bull trade at 103.50. Mike Page (Vanderhoof) with a 1840 lb red bull climbing to 105.50 and topping the bull trade today was Gerald and Justina Sense (Burns Lake) with a 1835 lb red bull selling for 107.50. Always a pleasure to see so many producers and locals come out and watch the sale, thanks again to the buyers who make the drive up here and keep our market so competitive. The crew did a great job and the cattle looked fantastic. Next regular sale is September 22nd and we’ll sell every Friday from now until December.
