Winter seemed to have returned as 478 head of cattle were sold through the BC Livestock yards in Vanderhoof on Friday. Receipts were mostly feeder cattle, and the market remained strong. Charles Aebischer treated us to some Gelbvieh x strs that weighed 673 lbs and powered to 449.00, the 620 lb strs reached 457.00, the fancy hfrs at 686 lbs raced to 426.00 and 600 lb hfrs settled at 440.00. Carmella Farms had powerful Simm x strs weighing 813 lbs ring the bell at 390.00 and the 781 lb strs hit 410.00. Garrett Ranches sold a package of 48 crossbred hfrs weighing 679 lbs that did not stop till 429.00 and the bigger sisters at 742 lbs sold for 387.00. Cal Hinton was in with 642 lb Simm x hfrs for 424.00 and the 588 lb hfrs saw 443.00. Mountain View Ranch had Blk strs at 738 lbs bring 418.50 and 676 lb strs hit 449.00. Wickstra Farms from Telkwa had some outstanding Exotic x strs that pressed the scales down at 859 lbs sell for 380.75 and the strs at 742 lbs saw 415.75 and the 616 lb strs were all the way up to 460.00, the hfrs at 761 lbs reached 383.00 and the 694 lb hfrs caught 415.00. Jake Martens sold solid, Blk strs at 791 lbs for 409.00 and the 700 lb strs saw 416.00. Levi Walker had 779 lb strs sell for 410.00 and the 730 lb strs were 415.00. Daniel Sommerville sold fancy Angus x hfrs at 726 lbs for 390.00 and some 653 lb hfrs rose up to 425.00. Sawley Deep Creek Ranch featured grass hfrs at 503 lbs for 480.00 and some 446 lb hfrs made it to 498.00. Bar K Ranch sold a sort of cows at 1448 lbs for 183.00 and some 1212 lb cows climbed to 194.00. V Bar Farms sold some young cows at 1290 lbs for 213.00.
