Vanderhoof Sale - Friday, Feb 28, 2025



The first cattle auction of the new year in Vanderhoof saw just over 500 head of cattle go through the ring. The market has picked up where it left off in 2024, with some new record high prices being posted. There was an exceptionally strong market today for some classes of cows. Murray Richards led off the sale with over 100 head of feeders, the 715 lb Angus x strs marked 415.00 and the 624 lb strs hit 451.00, while the steers that weighed 514 lbs rose to 490.00, the 614 lb hfrs settled at 419.00 and 561 lb hfrs saw 457.00, while the 435 lb hfrs broke through to 501.00. Harry Dykstra sold a beautiful package of Blk strs that pressed down the scales at 993 lbs and reached 338.50. Gabe Harvey from Prince George sold Angus x hfrs at 525 lbs for 460.00. Kochel Cattle and Timber had some virgin bulls at 688 lbs bring 401.00 and a sort of cows at 1336 lbs reached 209.00. Fraser Macdonald watched his 584 lb hfrs sell for 433.00. Russ McLarry had beautiful Blk hfrs at 819 lbs hit 355.00 and some 995 lb heiferettes saw 337.50. Lance Muehlen had 581 lb exotic x strs race to 522.50. Steven and Elizabeth Palmer from Burns lake brought in over 80 head, the 622 lb Gelbvieh x hfrs, good and green, rocketed to 426.50 and 564 lb hfrs hit 468.50, the 500 lb hfrs made it to 495.00, some heiferettes that sold as exposed at 870 lbs broke through to 400.00, some young cows at 1230 lbs rose to 240.00. Rolf and Susanna Tschour sold Blk hfrs that weighed 683 lbs for 395.00 and the hfrs weighing 548 lbs hit 435.00. Barbara Tuchlinski had 680 lb Gelbvieh x hfrs sell for 413.00 and a pair of big hfrs at 1018 lbs returned 315.00. Ethan Walker sold a young cow that weighed 1215 lbs for 250.00 and Levi Walker had young cows at 1264 lbs bring 240.00 and a pair of bulls at 1805 lbs that hit 230.00. Gordon Parr had hfrs at 895 lbs reach 345.00. Garrett Ranches featured heiferettes at 1087 lbs for 285.00 and a sort of cows at 1415 lbs brought 225.00. Poole Farms had some 1100 lb hfrs reach 300.00 and a group of 1443 lb cows hit 220.00. Pooles Arrow Ranch sold Simm hfrs at 1225 lbs for 300.00 and bred cows that topped at 4,700.00 and some bred hfrs that topped at 4,700.00 as well as a number of mature bulls that reached 230.00. Ron and Lois Crosby sold some Simm hfrs at 1287 lbs for 310.00. Andy Meints Contracting had a Red bull that weighed 2360 lbs and topped the market at 233.00.
