There were 531 head of cattle sold through the ring on Friday in Vanderhoof, including 82 bred cows and heifers. Clayton Steiner topped the bred sale with a pen of powerful Red Simm bred heifers that pressed the scales down at 1233 lbs and sold for 3,700.00. On the cow side, Dykam Ranch and Woodlot featured young Blk cows that brought 3,200.00 and another sort returned 3,150.00. Brock Young had a couple of Simm x cows rise to 3,100.00. Merle and Shelley Olin saw a pair of young Red cows sell for 2,900.00. Blake Gammond’s Red cows brought 2,650.00. Don McKilligan had mature Red cows reach 2,650.00 and Andres Grunthal Equipment Ltd. had solid, Blk cows bring 2,325.00. The regular sale saw Doug and Cindy Brophy’s fancy Blk s/c that weighed 538 lbs streak up to 390.00 and some s/c at 435 lbs hit 420.00, a sort of slaughter cows weighing 1456 lbs topped the day at 118.00. Copper T Ranch sold RWF h/c at 620 lbs for 302.50. Harold and Donna Gould brought in Blk h/c at 538 lbs that sold for 330.00. Leslie McConnachie sold a nice set of Red s/c at 470 lbs for 410.00. Rim Rock Ranch Ltd. rounded out the calf sale with their good Red calves, the s/c weighing 409 lbs made it to 430.00, some s/c at 365 lbs rose to 450.00 and the sort of 276 lb s/c made it all the way to 502.50, some hfrs that weighed 862 lbs reached 270.00 and a sort of cows at 1166 lbs brought 115.00. Tatalrose Ranch Ltd. had heiferettes at 846 lbs climb to 185.00 and some 1327 lb cows sold for 113.50. Clayton Steiner had open Simm hfrs at 1173 lbs bring 205.00. Cal Hinton sold a Red bull that weighed 1880 lbs for 136.00, Levi Walker had a Blk bull at 1795 lbs sell for 139.00 and Larry Palmer topped the day with a Pair of Char bulls weighing 1640 lbs selling at 140.00.
