Vanderhoof Sale - Friday, Oct 20, 2023



Over 2900 head of cattle were sold through the ring on Friday in Vanderhoof as the fall run continues. There were a lot of outstanding calves at the sale today. 57 Holdings Ltd. started the sale off with powerful Blk calves, the s/c at 630 lbs settled at 343.00, s/c at 542 lbs reached 365.00 and h/c at 540 lbs were 316.50. Walt Cool had Salers s/c at 471 lbs reach 415.00 and the 427 lb h/c rolled to 355.00. CTN Ranching Ltd. sold 661 lb s/c for 340.00 and s/c at 499 lbs hit 400.00, some 606 lb h/c saw 311.00 and 502 lb h/c were 330.00, a sort of cows at 1327 lbs sold for 121.00. Canyon Ranch, Bill and Barb Ephrom, sold fancy Red s/c at 491 lbs for 416.50 and h/c at 472 lbs made it to 361.00. Lucy Erhorn’s Angus x s/c that weighed 594 lbs sold for 354.00 and h/c at 487 lbs saw 345.00. Bill Evans had X bred s/c that weighed 688 lbs and returned 340.00 and s/c at 552 lbs were 360.00, the h/c at 579 lbs reached 313.75 and 482 lb h/c made it to 348.50. Kaspar Fluckiger sold Blk s/c at 634 lbs for 347.00 and s/c at 547 lbs were 375.25, the h/c that weighed 559 lbs saw 315.00. Blake Gammond’s Red s/c at 463 lbs caught 413.00 and h/c at 489 lbs rose to 352.50. Pete and Wendy Knowles had big Simm x s/c that weighed 705 lbs climb to 332.00 and 598 lb s/c marked 360.00, some h/c at 576 lbs were 321.00. Doug and Beth McEntire featured Char x s/c weighing 661 lbs selling for 350.00 and 567 lb s/c racing to 389.00 and the s/c at 494 lbs were 420.00, the h/c at 565 lbs rang the bell at 322.50 and some h/c at 449 lbs caught 371.00 and cows at 1442 lbs made it to 120.00. Ernst and Marta Muigg from Hazelton showcased Red s/c that weighed 555 lbs and brought 370.25 and h/c that also weighed 555 return 322.00. Poole Farms Ltd. had s/c at 533 lbs reach 387.00 and s/c at 446 lbs that climbed to 435.00. Poole’s Arrow Ranch brought in 285 powerful Simm calves today, the liner load that averaged 668 lbs marked 350.00 and the next full liner load at 576 lbs did not stop till 372.50. Skyline Ranch tested the yearling market with 1080 lb Exotic strs that settled at 269.00 and 979 lb strs that forced 284.00, the 957 lb hfrs reached 265.00 and 869 lb hfrs were 277.00, a sort of 1501 lb cows made it to 121.75 and an 1865 lb bull sold for 147.00. Clayton Steiner continued the parade of quality with a beautiful sort of Simm x s/c that weighed 733 lbs that topped the day at 335.25 and 670 lb s/c for 343.00. Coyote Cattle Co. from Smithers had s/c at 597 lbs return 364.00 and the 511 lb s/c were all the way up to 411.00, the 524 lb h/c reached 350.00 and 459 lb h/c were 380.00. Dan Storey sold Blk s/c at 503 lbs for 400.00 and 394 lb s/c were 388.00 and h/c at 457 lbs saw 361.50. Ginger Westbrook watched as her 545 lb s/c raced all the way to 388.00 and the 457 lb s/c hit 423.00, the 429 lb h/c climbed to 380.00. Woodmere Cattle Co. treated us to some tremendous sorts of calves, s/c at 578 lbs brought 370.00 and the s/c at 502 lbs were 391.00 and 405 lb s/c rose to 447.00, h/c at 514 lbs made it to 335.00 and the 448 lb h/c were 367.50, a Char bull that weighed 2120 lbs topped the market at 150.00. Jamie and Denise Wiens sold solid Simm x s/c that pressed the scales down at 675 lbs for 340.50 and the 610 lb s/c reached 350.00 and some cows at 1591 lbs brought 120.00. Gerrit Keegstra had a sort of 1463 lb Simm x cows top 125.00 and Richard Wruth sold an 1875 lb Red bull for 147.00.
