Huge receipts in Vanderhoof on Friday, as pasture and feed conditions contributed to 1934 head going through the ring. All classes of cattle sold on a strong market, with a heavy run of yearlings and a huge number of cows and cow/calf pairs. The calf market was lightly tested with Thomas Glucki’s fancy Simm x s/c at 374 lbs racing to 432.00 and the h/c at 343 lbs marking 410.00. Kalvin Bosch sold a sort of Blk s/c at 267 lbs for 450.00 and a record was set in Vanderhoof when Andrew Yeker presented 218 lb Blk s/c that hit 515.00. Mike and Heather Trigiani topped the pair market with powerful crossbred cows with big strapping calves at foot reaching 3650.00. Mike Bayley was not far behind with his fleshy cows with big calves hitting 3550.0 and 3575.00 on two sorts. Lighter, thinner pairs were lower with the overall average on pairs still crowding 2800.00. An outstanding run of yearlings included Bruce Blaike with 830 lb strs selling for 310.00, his 760 lb strs forced 322.00 and hfrs at 773 lbs were 291.00. Aubree and Decody Corbiere presented hfrs at 726 lbs for 301.75 and hfrs at 651 lbs 317.50. Marten and Lynda Dykens had a liner load of strs in from Houston, the sort at 887 lbs soared to 312.00 and the 793 lb strs hit 324.00. Carmella Farms strs that weighed 894 lbs rang the bell at 300.00 and some 793 lb strs were 322.50. Garrett Ranches Ltd. brought their strs to town with 773 lbs at 330.00 and a full liner load at 685 lbs racing to 347.50. Golden Meadows Ranch Ltd. had 803 lb strs reach 315.50, strs at 746 lbs caught 330.00, the hfrs at 806 lbs were 290.00 and hfr sat 734 lbs rose to 305.25 a sort of slaughter cows at 1609 lbs sold for 129.75. Olaf Halverson sold 917 lb strs for 297.00 and the 791 lb strs were 320.00, while some 782 lb hfrs stopped at 292.00. David Klassen’s 786 lb strs climbed to 332.00 and strs at 686 lbs made it to 355.00. Jon Lenchuck featured xbred strs at 929 lbs for 297.00 and 815 lb strs at 314.25. Poole Farms 834 lb strs climbed to 311.75 and strs at 694 lbs powered to 356.50, hfrs at 704 lbs touched 301.00 and the 608 lb hfrs did not stop till 346.00, some good cows at 1369 lbs made it to 130.50. Lenore Reimer sold Blk strs at 779 lbs for 327.00 and some hfrs at 482 lbs made 305.00, some cows at 1347 lbs reached 131.00. Jared Reimer sold 750 lb Blk strs for 340.00. Valley Creek Ranch continued the parade of quality with powerful strs at 958 lbs for 297.00, 874 lb strs were 304.75 some 814 lb hfrs reached 286.00 and 738 lb hfrs broke 301.00. Richard Wruth was in with more outstanding strs, the sort at 952 lbs saw 295.25 and the 878 lb strs forced 307.50. Victor Bateson sold hfrs at 852 lbs for 285.00 and the 800 lb hfrs saw 289.25. Rick Stevens from Houston brought in heiferettes at 972 lbs that caught 223.00. Bar K Ranch was in with almost 200 cows and they sorted into 3 full liner loads, one load at 1334 lbs sold for 126.00 and a load at 1171 lbs made it to 129.00. Other highlights in the slaughter market were Gary Schock with 1602 lb cows for 132.00 and Roz Barron with 1575 lb cows at 131.00. Pooles Arrow Ranch topped the bull market with a pair of Simm bulls at 2043 lbs for 151.00 and Walker Cattle Company had a Red bull at 2215 lbs hit 151.00 as well.
