1200 head of cattle were sold through the ring in Vanderhoof on Friday. Most of the receipts were feeder cattle, but there were over 300 slaughter cows and bulls on offer as well. Andy Meints Contracting started off the sale in style featuring over 250 head. 901 lb angus strs powered to 178.00, 835 lb strs rose to 190.00 and the 717 lb strs topped out at 205.00. A sort of Andy’s hfrs at 737 lbs saw 175.00 and the 684 lb hfrs rang the bell at 183.00. Keith and AlexisHart also had in nearly 200 head of feeders, strs at 804 lbs fetched 191.25, the sort of strs at 712 lbs climbed to 206.75, a package of hfrs that weighed 752 lbs forced 176.50 while 46 head at 652 lbs made it all the way up to 187.00. Victor Bateson featured Blk strs at 624 lbs for 210.50. Ernest Bree from Telkwa watched as his strs ready for grass at 575 lbs marked 225.00 and the 476 lb strs were out the door at 230.00. CTN Ranching Ltd. presented Blk hfs at 457 lbs that sold for 194.00. Jay and Terry Dancey from Smithers had a fancy set of Red hfrs at 673 lbs return 184.00. Sawley Deep Creek Ranch, with more grass cattle sold strs at 673 lb for 211.75 and 601 lb strs for 220.00. J&L Feragen from Prince George had Blk hfrs at 605 lb bring 185.00 and 474 lb hfrs to 189.00. Carmella Farms brought in powerful strs, 25 head at 847 lb fetched 187.75, 831 lb Char x strs rocketed up to 199.00, the 771 lb strs were 199.50. Jim Griffith sold 734 lb strs for 200.00 even and 692 lb hfrs for 178.50 while the 597 lb hfrs reached 188.00 and 533 lb hfrs topped the sale at 196.00. Lone Fir Ranch sold a package of RBF hfrs at 555 lb for 194.50. S&D Livestock had Red strs at 686 lb mark 207.50 and hfrs at 653 lb force 189.50. John VanZanten sold strs at 894 lb for 175.00 and the 763 lb strs were 197.00. Dennis Weir’s Simm x hfrs at 738 lbs were 176.00, while Scott Weir had 817 lb strs rise to 188.50 and 700 lb hfrs settled at 177.00. On the slaughter side, 57 Holdings out of Houston sold 1581 lb cows for 108.00. Doug and Cindy Brophy had good Red cows at 1373 lbs fetch 110.50. Ron Crosby had a 1715 lb Simm cow return 111.50. Garrett Ranches Ltd. sold an 1875 lb Blk bull for 120.00. Hatch Creek Ranch sold a Blk bull at 1810 lbs for 121.00. Kerr’s Limousin’s bull at 2025 lb returned 123.00. Kochel Cattle and Timber Ltd had a sort of cows at 1284 lb mark 108.00. Muir Stock Farms topped the cow trade with 1513 lb cows for 112.00 and a 1965 lb Blk bull saw 124.00.
