Nine hundred head of feeder cattle along with over 200 slaughter cows and bulls were sold through the ring in Vanderhoof on Friday. Lone Fir Ranch led off the sale with X Bred strs weighing 665 lbs fetching 210.00 and the 574 lb sort reaching 224.00. Rwf strs at 608 lbs followed up at 200.00. Kevin Bailey set the pace for the day with Simm X strs at 878 lbs marking 183.50, 805 lb strs were 187.00, 763 lbs to 197.00. The hfrs saw strong demand with 744 lbs rising to 188.00 and 689 lbs touching 190.00. Cary Chenard was in with Angus X strs at 727 lbs for 195.00 and hfrs at 755 lbs settled at 185.00. Garth Everall brought in over 100 head, 859 lb Char X strs saw 184.00, 30 strs at 778 lbs were 193.00, 596 lb strs reached 217.50, on the hfr side, 744 lbs rang the bell at 176.00 and 618 lb hfrs notched 201.50. He also had a 2185 lb Char bull hit 116.00. Garrett Ranches featured 620 lb X Bred hfrs for 191.50 and 39 head of Hereford X hfrs to 197.25. Brian Hall with well-fed strs at 934 lbs for 179.00, 812 lbs were 187.25 and a Blk Simm bull at 1865 lbs topped out at 117.00. Dan and Helen McLarry sold X Bred hfrs at 696 lbs for 178.50 and hfrs at 594 lbs to 194.50. Russ McLarry with a sort of fancy 724 lb hfrs reached 186.50. Dave Johnson was in with Char X strs at 580 lbs reaching 226.50. Andy Meints showcased 37 Angus strs at 951 lbs that settled at 178.75 he also sold 1775 lb cows for 99.50 and a 2440 lb Red bull reached 114.00. Pat Muehlen brought outstanding cows, the 1308 lb sort saw 102.00 and 1418 lbs were 104.75. Larry Palmer with Char X hfrs at 603 lbs for 190.00 saw the 535 lb hfrs also fetch 190.00. Rose Ranch from Burns Lake presented Char X strs at 753 lbs for 195.25, 578 lb strs up to 224.00, 802 lb hfrs were 171.00 and 724 lb hfrs soared to 187.00. Peter and Paul Sturzenegger had Rwf strs at 791 lbs reach 189.00 and 529 lb strs were 228.00 and the 677 lb hfrs were 183.50. Rolf andSusanna Tschuor sold solid Blk strs at 846 lbs for 182.25 and 767 lb strs to 193.50, while Blk hfrs at 658 lbs forced 187.00 and 500 lb hfrs stopped at 196.00. Wikkstra Farms from Telkwa with X Bred strs that weighed 846 lbs and returned 182.75, 758 lb strs for 195.75, 620 lb strs that rose to 219.00, 720 lb hfrs for 185.50 and 631 lb hfrs to 193.00 rounded out the feeder sale. TK Cattle Co. sold Char cows at 1562 lbs for 100.00 even. Andres Grunthal Equipment Ltd. sold powerful 1612 lb Blk cows for 102.00. V Bar Farms also had solid cows at 1444 lbs to 99.00. Copper-T Ranch set the record for the day with a Hereford bull that pressed down the scales at 2700 lbs and returned 103.00. Thanks to the buyers, the contributors and the crew for a good sale.
