Just under 600 head of cattle hit the ring on Friday in Vanderhoof. Receipts consisted of mostly yearlings with a limited number of butcher cows and bulls.

Lone Fir Ranch from Fort Fraser started off the sale with their good yearling steers. Crossbreds at 941 lbs brought 176.75 with the 823 wts fetching 188.25. Gary and Judy Blackwell presented fancy Blk hfrs at 891 lbs that had been exposed to a bull and returned 170.00. CharlesAebischer saw his 835 lb strs, Reds and Tans reach 188.50. Andres Grunthal Equipment had powerful Blk hfs at 848 lbs see 163.50 and 802 lb hfrs to 167.50. Randall Dering’s 706 lb hfrs stopped at 175.50. Bernie Klassen’s Angus x strs at 867 lbs rose to 180.00 and strs at 786 lbs were 187.00. Long Ridge Farms showed 736 lb hfrs which climbed to 174.50 and 665 lb hfrs that saw 177.50. V Bar Farm with top quality Blk strs weighing 1011 lbs rang the bell at 173.00 and a big sort at 904 lbs topped out at 182.50. Ron and Renae Westlund from McBride featured Simm x strs at 841 lbs touch 193.75 and the 745 lb brothers all the way up to 203.75. Wickstra FarmsLtd from Telkwa sold 697 lb strs for 200.50 and hfrs at 634 lbs to 179.00. Jake Martens presented big Red strs at 1039 lbs that saw 171.00. Poole’s Arrow Ranch sold Simm cow calf pairs with the top pairs fetching 1750.00. Butcher cattle sold under pressure today, with MuirStock Farms selling a package of 1857 lb bulls for 107.00. Golden Meadows Ranch Ltd topped the cow market with 1697 lb cows reaching 76.25. Little Valley Farms with 1565 lb cows at 75.00 and Wendy Knowles with 1418 lb cows at 75.00 rounded out the top end of the cows today.
